Event Details

During uncertain economic times, we learn much about the challenges faced by local governments. What we don't hear enough about, however, are the opportunities presented to communities due to the same economic circumstances.

One such opportunity is the chance to step back and create or revise development plans. During the past 20 years, the Atlanta region has been so flooded with development and investment opportunities that it was difficult for local leaders to keep up with what was happening in the present, much less how it might affect planning for the future. Now, while developers and builders are not crowding local planning and zoning offices, local governments have a window of time to consider how they want their communities to look 5, 10 or 20 years from now. They have the opportunity to work with local residents and community partners to amend zoning and develop ordinances that will result in quality redevelopment and shape our communities for decades to come.

The objective of this course is to provide an overview of the tools and resources available to help local governments emerge from this downturn with a strong, united plan of action for the future.

Registration includes breakfast, lunch and all workshop materials.
